Balwant Singh Rajoana is a convict in the case of former Punjab chief minister Beant Singh assassination.
The convict, a Tamil Nadu man, Sundar alias Sundararajan, had kidnapped and murdered a seven-year-old boy in 2009 following the inability of the victims’ parents to meet the demand of the ransom of Rs 5 lakh.
Judge Ambalal R Patel announced a compensation of Rs one lakh for the families of the deceased, Rs 50,000 for the seriously injured and Rs 25,000 for those who suffered minor injuries.
