Reacting to the Budget, industry body PHDCCI said it welcomes and strongly supports the Union Budget 2026–27 initiatives aimed at expanding manufacturing across strategic and sunrise sectors.
CII noted that India’s real GDP grew by 8.0 per cent in the first half of FY26, while inflation remained well anchored, reflecting proactive fiscal policy and prudent macroeconomic management by the government.
The recently concluded Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) Financing Summit 2025, attended inter-alia, by V Anantha Nageswaran, Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) and SEBI chief Tuhin Kanta Pandey, made headlines because of some plain-speaking by the CEA, who observed: “India’s equity markets have grown impressively, but Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) have increasingly become exit vehicles for early investors, rather than mechanisms for raising long-term capital.”
Speaking at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Partnership Summit in Visakhapatnam, in the presence of Vice President CP Radhakrishnan, he said that India’s progress was the result of deliberate policy, determined execution, and the unleashing of entrepreneurial energy under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
India has been growing rapidly amidst a slowing global economy due to the Government's prudent fiscal management for macroeconomic stability, CII director Chandrajit Banerjee said on Sunday.
It cautioned that overly aggressive targets beyond these could adversely affect India's economic growth.
