CBI traces source of arms procurement

The Trinamul Congress has lodged a complaint against the CBI with the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai during a Cabinet meeting on January 3 this year had decided to refer the matter to the CBI for a comprehensive inquiry.

After negotiations, the accused agreed to accept Rs 20,000, the Central probe agency said.

The CBI has also sought the entire CCTV footage of Rampurhat Police Station of that day to find who had come on that night in the PS, including outsiders and what had occurred inside the police station. Also, the statements of the injured villagers admitted at Rampurhat hospital have been recorded.
According to the CM, the track record of the central investigation agency was not satisfactory. Mentioning several cases, she referred to the Rabindranath Tagore Nobel medal theft, killing of 14 persons in Nandigram, Netai massacre, the Tapasi Malik case in Singur, and said there was no headway in those cases.
The CBI officials have also sought the list of active criminals of the area from the local police, sources said. Prima facie it seems that the incident has occurred amidst complete intelligence failure of the police.
