Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for the petitioners, flagged that 12 living voters were wrongly marked dead in the draft electoral rolls published by the ECI on August 1.
The RJD leader pointed out that Sinha has also manipulated his age. “In the voter list of Lakhisarai Assembly constituency, Sinha’s age is mentioned as 57 years, while in the voter list of the Bankipur Assembly constituency, his age is shown as 60 years.”
After Tejashwi Yadav raised the issue, the Electoral Registration Officer, Bankipur Assembly Constituency issued a notice to Sinha, asking for his explanation.
Kharge said the INDIA bloc parties want a discussion on the special intensive revision of (SIR) electoral rolls in Bihar, but the government is unwilling.
“Should the Election Commission, getting misled by some people, pave the way for some to cast fake votes in the name of deceased voters, voters who have migrated permanently, voters who have got their votes registered at two places, fake voters or foreign voters, going against the Constitution, first in Bihar, then in the entire country?” the ECI asked.
JD-U MP Giridhari Yadav has also come out strongly against the SIR exercise, calling it a "forceful imposition" that lacks practical knowledge.
Carrying banners and posters, members of the opposition parties demanded an immediate discussion on the issue.
The RJD leader said that if they do not oppose this exercise in Bihar, it will be conducted in other states as well.
