The first phase of the Special Intensive Revision of the Bihar electoral roll is nearing completion, the poll panel said in its daily press update, asserting that the Election Commission aims to ensure “no eligible elector is left out and no ineligible person is included.”
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has revealed significant discrepancies in Bihar's voter rolls detected during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) Wednesday said as of today, only 6.85 per cent of electors in Bihar were left to fill the enumeration form ahead of the publication of draft Electoral Roll on August 1.
This achievement is attributed to the active participation of Bihar electors and the tireless efforts of election officials and volunteers, the poll panel said in a press note.
The top court also questioned the exclusion of Aadhaar from the verification process.
As per instructions, draft electoral rolls that will be issued on 1 August will contain the names of persons whose enumeration forms are received.
The INDIA bloc leaders said that this exercise is suspicious and is an attack on democracy.
This marks a significant milestone in the electoral revision process, with 21.46 percent of the total 7.89 crore electors in Bihar submitting their forms.
Through the advertisement, the ECI announced that the voters, whose names are already in the last intensive revision of Electoral Roll on 01.01.2003, have to simply fill the Enumeration Form and submit it.
ADR contends that the move contravenes the Representation of the People Act, 1950, and Rule 21A of the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960.
