The Election Commission of India (ECI) has revealed significant discrepancies in Bihar’s voter rolls detected during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision.

According to the facts revealed from Bihar SIR 18 lakh deceased electors have been reported while 26 lakh electors have shifted to different constituencies and more 7 lakh electors were found enrolled at two or more places, the poll panel said in a press update on Tuesday.

The SIR in Bihar aims to ensure all eligible electors are included in the draft electoral roll to be published on August 1, 2025. The election machinery, including nearly 1 lakh Booth Level Officers (BLOs), 4 lakh volunteers, and 1.5 lakh Booth Level Agents (BLAs) appointed by 12 major political parties, are working together to locate electors who haven’t submitted Enumeration Forms (EFs) or weren’t found at their addresses.

From August 1 to September 1, the public has a month to file objections for additions, deletions, or rectifications in the Draft Electoral Rolls.

As of June 24, Bihar had 7,89,69,844 total electors.
