In his opening remarks during a meeting with Thailand’s Foreign Minister, Sihasak Phuangketkeow, in New Delhi, Jaishankar said, “India and Thailand have historically shared close and friendly ties. We value Thailand as a long-time friend, apart from being an important maritime neighbour.”
He said that the country's approach has always been very clear — to promote an open, inclusive, and rules-based Indo-Pacific.
Addressing the forum on ‘Reflection on 15 years of ADMM-Plus and Charting a Way Forward’, he asserted that India’s strategic engagement with ASEAN is not transactional but long-term and principle-driven, and it rests on a shared belief that the Indo-Pacific should remain open, inclusive, and free from coercion, a Defence Ministry statement said.
