Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee chief Devender Yadav said on Friday that the bungalow at 6 Flag Staff Road bungalow in Civil Lines, which former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal reconstructed by spending several crores of tax payers’ money, should be retained as a “Monument of Corruption” by making it a public utility service centre.
The proposal also includes completing the unfinished camp office, where around Rs 25 crore has already been spent. The facility would host government meetings before being opened for private events when available.
Kejriwal recalled his 2011 anti-corruption movement against the then Congress government as he warned the ruling BJP of a 2014-like fate.
The chief minister asserted that the AAP-led government in Punjab had never cited an empty treasury as an excuse for avoiding welfare measures.
"Lord Rama had said - 'In Kaliyuga, people with demonic tendencies will oppose the recitation of the Sundarakanda'," Kejriwal said in response to the BJP's "political gimmick" and "drama" jibe.
Municipal Commissioner Ojaswi Alankar said the civic body would ensure the project is completed at the earliest.
