Welcoming the bail granted to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the Supreme Court in the excise policy scam, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav called it a victory for the Constitution.
Blaming Akhilesh Yadav for the breakup of the alliance, the BSP chief said, “I had publicly said that the SP chief had stopped answering my phone (calls), regarding which he has now given a clarification after so many years."
Releasing the CCTV footage of the robbery at Bharat Jewelers in Sultanpur that took place before the encounter, DGP Prashant Kumar said whatever action has been taken by the police has been taken keeping in mind Supreme Court’s guidelines.
"I was in Azamgarh when the alliance broke. There were BSP leaders on the stage, I asked them why they broke the alliance? But now she is making allegations to hide her shortcomings," he told the media.
There is no place for such arrogant leadership in democracy, it is a curse for the state of Uttar Pradesh, he said.
Akhilesh Yadav confirmed his participation a day after Samajwadi Party and Congress finalised their seat-sharing pact for general elections.
Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party had earlier said that it has offered 17 seats to the Congress.
Swami also resigned from the membership of the State Legislative council as a SP member with immediate effect.
In a message addressed to the farmer on Friday, Yadav said, "The kind of manipulation with which the electoral bonds were introduced proves that corruption runs deep into the roots of BJP politics.”
"On the one hand, the government tries to woo the farmers for votes by conferring Bharat Ratna on Chaudhary Charan Singh and MS Swaminathan while on the other, does not even want to listen to them.”
