As per the ministry’s data, total fruits production in the country is likely to increase to 103.22 million tonne this year from 102 million tonne last year.
Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai earlier in the day called an emergency meeting to discuss the situation and also directed the administration to be alert and asked officials of the Agriculture department to make field visits in areas close to Gurugram.
After the meeting, the Delhi government will issue an advisory to deal with the emerging situation.
