Inarguably one of the greats of the game of football, Cristiano Ronaldo joined Italian football club Juventus FC on the back of a massive €112 million deal with Real Madrid. He later went on to make a significant impact for Juventus. However, not many people are aware of the fact that another Serie A Team was interested in Ronaldo and he was close to joining them. This team is none other than AC Milan.

In a recent interview with Sportitalia, an Italian sports channel, former chief executive of AC Milan, Marco Fassone said that the Portugal forward was very much open to the possibility of him moving to AC Milan. He also said that the club President was also fond of Ronaldo and wanted him in the team but were not able to draft him into the side because of financial limitations.

“The president wanted Cristiano Ronaldo, but the figures told us this was inadvisable,” Marco Fassone told Sportitalia in that interview.

“Ronaldo was open to evaluating the opportunity, as Milan are a famous club and there was enthusiasm around us. However, we never went beyond some internal calculations and seeing if he was potentially open to it.”

However, CR7, the 34-year-old legend of the game, went on to join Juve and netted 28 goals for them, in the process of adding a couple of more trophies to his cabinet- Serie A and the Italian Super Club.
