Sharapova, who returned to the tennis tour in April after a 15-month ban for a doping violation, is in Beijing preparing for the upcoming China Open.

The 30-year-old, a former World No.1, is currently ranked 104th in the WTA rankings and has been in good form since her comeback.

After reaching the semi-finals of Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in April, Sharapova was unable to progress to the latter stages of Madrid Open and Rome Open. She was forced to take a break due to a thigh injury and while the French Open refused to grant her a wildcard, the US Open organisers relented.

In her first Slam in over a year and half, Sharapova showed signs of returning to her peak as she ousted second seed Simona Halep in the first-round before eventually falling to Anastasija Sevastova in the pre-quarters.
