Five-time Slam champion Maria Sharapova’s training session was ‘disrupted’ by an unexpected visitor but the Russian star didn’t seem to mind and uploaded an image of herself and the intruder on her Instagram profile.
Sharapova, who returned to the tennis tour in April after a 15-month ban for a doping violation, is in Beijing preparing for the upcoming China Open.
The 30-year-old, a former World No.1, is currently ranked 104th in the WTA rankings and has been in good form since her comeback.
After reaching the semi-finals of Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in April, Sharapova was unable to progress to the latter stages of Madrid Open and Rome Open. She was forced to take a break due to a thigh injury and while the French Open refused to grant her a wildcard, the US Open organisers relented.
In her first Slam in over a year and half, Sharapova showed signs of returning to her peak as she ousted second seed Simona Halep in the first-round before eventually falling to Anastasija Sevastova in the pre-quarters.
