Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday slammed the opposition for spreading rumours of ‘lockdown’ to create chaos in the country in the name of shortage of petrol, diesel and LPG cylinders.

“What kind of low-level efforts are being made to stop Modi? Rumours are being spread that there will be a lockdown and that LPG cylinders will have less gas. It is our duty to ensure cylinders last for 25 days. Then why are we queuing up on the fifth day?” he questioned.

CM Yogi Adityanath made this remark during the distribution of joining letters to 665 selected nursing officers from the Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences here on Sunday.

CM Yogi said, “The world is in crisis amid an atmosphere of turmoil and uncertainty. Many countries have reduced working hours. Petrol prices are skyrocketing in America as well. Our neighbouring countries are also in dire straits. However, India is moving forward without pause. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reduced the excise duty on petrol and diesel. All sections of society are benefiting from this.”

“When your car is full of petrol, why are you waiting in line? You must remain cautious and vigilant against rumour-mongers. When the country’s leadership is with you, why are you worried? The public ousted them from power, and now they are spreading rumours. Spreading rumours is also a form of treason,” he added.

The CM said, “Zero tolerance isn’t just for crime and criminals. Zero tolerance is also for corruption. The government has been working towards the goal of zero corruption since day one. As a result, every week we are involved in some kind of appointment letter distribution programme.”

Yogi Adityanath added, “Akhilesh did not visit Noida while he was the Chief Minister, but he reached Noida today for divisive politics. The JPNIC building was built in the name of Jayaprakash Narayan. Its DPR was Rs 200 crore, but Rs 800 crore were spent on it, and it is still incomplete. This is the Samajwadi Party’s model of development. With what face do they talk about development? They are not even ashamed.”

CM Yogi further said, “The Gomti Riverfront project had a DPR of Rs 300 crore, but Rs 1,400 crore was spent on it, and it remains incomplete. This is a robbery of the public’s hard-earned money. As soon as a job opening arises, they begin extorting money. Today, a Yadav daughter from Amethi has also been selected. However, she would not have been selected before 2017 because her family could not afford to pay. I have already said that if any wrongdoing is found, I will ensure strict action and set an example.”

He added, “Before 2017, most recruitment was hampered. By providing employment to nine lakh people in Uttar Pradesh, the state has been transformed into the country’s growth engine. A state that once lacked the funds to pay salaries is now a revenue-surplus state. Today, our per capita income has tripled.”

He said there is no interference in the recruitment exams and that appointment letters are distributed every week. The government keeps a close eye on recruitment commissions. It’s no secret that those attempting to tamper with the youth’s future are caught before they can succeed, he added.

The CM said, “The state’s largest airport was inaugurated in UP yesterday. Since our state is the largest, we are undertaking the biggest projects. One lakh youth will get employment. Jewar was once a major crime hub in the state, and people avoided passing through the area in the evening. Today, it has emerged as a major investment hub. A film city is being built there. The foundation stone of a semiconductor unit was also laid nearby. At one time, the public was helpless without oil, but now they are helpless without semiconductors.”
