Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat has said that amid the ongoing unrest in West Asia, the time has come for India to emerge as a “world leader” and show a new path to happiness and peace.

He emphasised that building a beautiful world is possible only by following the spiritual inspiration of saints and the path to truth. Bhagwat added that the Sangh will continue to strive, in collaboration with the saints, to achieve this sacred goal.

The RSS chief said that today the entire world needs India’s light. He emphasised that the country’s customs and policies should be firmly rooted in its spiritual traditions. Bhagwat said, “Life must be based on truth. We have the guidance of saints and must move forward by imbibing the spirit behind their words. The Maluk Peeth has kept this great tradition alive for 452 years, which is a source of inspiration for all.”

Calling for unity and sensitivity in society, he said that religion has no existence without truth and compassion. He said that compassion comes into life when we begin to feel everyone’s suffering as our own. Although it is not possible for the country’s 1.42 billion people to become “saints”, we must strive to ensure that every citizen’s life is filled with purity and sanctity.

Speaking on cow slaughter, he said, “The solution lies in making society cow devotees.”

Supporting the demand of Maluk Peeth’s Mahant Rajendra Das Maharaj for a complete ban on cow slaughter, the RSS chief offered practical advice, stating that the power of society is more effective than law.

He said, “Make society so devoted to cows that cow slaughter stops automatically. People must be empowered to achieve this. Just as there was strong public sentiment across the country for the Shri Ram Temple, a similar sentiment must be awakened for the cow. When such public sentiment is generated in the country, the government will also have to recognise it.”

He reiterated his resolve, saying, “The RSS will actively work to spread the importance of the cow among the masses and awaken public consciousness.”
