The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh tabled a deficit budget for the financial year 2024-25 in the state assembly on Monday.

State Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna tabled the budget proposal of the BJP government in the second year of its second term with a full majority. The size of the budget is Rs 7,36,437.71 crore and the deficit is estimated at Rs 15,103.89 crore.

New schemes worth Rs 24,863.57 crore have been included in the budget.

Khanna said the total receipts are estimated at Rs 7.21,333.82 crore including revenue receipts of Rs 6,06,802.40 crore and capital receipts of Rs 1,14,531.42 crore.

The share of tax revenue in revenue receipts is Rs 4,88,902.84 crore. This includes its tax revenue of Rs 2,70,086 crore and the state’s share in Central taxes of Rs 2,18,816.84 crore

The total expenditure is estimated at Rs 7,36,437.71 crore.

Of the total expenditure Rs 5,32,655.33 crore is the expenditure on revenue account and Rs 2,03,782.38 crore is the expenditure on capital account.

After deducting the total expenditure from the receipts of the Consolidated Fund, the deficit is estimated at Rs 15,103.89 crore.

Net receipts from the public account are estimated at Rs 5,500 crore.

The net result of the entire transaction is estimated at negative Rs 9,603.89 crore.

Taking into account the initial balance of Rs 38,189.66 crore, the final balance is estimated at Rs 28,585.77 crore.
