At least three people have reportedly died and more than 35 have been hospitalised after allegedly consuming contaminated water in Indore, the country’s cleanest city.

The water is suspected to have been supplied over the past few days through Narmada River connections of the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC).

According to Indore Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr Madhav Prasad Hassani, at least 32 people from the Bhagirathpura area have been admitted to various hospitals in the city.
“The patients reported symptoms of vomiting, diarrhoea and dehydration after consuming contaminated water,” Dr Hassani said.
Drinking water samples have been collected from the affected area, and test reports are expected within 48 hours, he added.
Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has directed the local administration to ensure prompt and quality treatment for all affected patients.
On Tuesday, an 80-year-old man, Nandlal Pal, died during treatment at a private hospital. Sources said two more women also succumbed while undergoing treatment at other hospitals.
Madhya Pradesh Urban Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, who hails from Indore, visited various hospitals on Wednesday to meet the patients and review the situation.
