Highlighting the healthcare initiatives, Tandon said the inauguration of the Advanced Mother and Child Centre and the Advanced Neurosciences Centre at PGIMER will significantly strengthen the region’s medical infrastructure.

He said the Advanced Mother and Child Centre, with its 300-bed capacity and state-of-the-art facilities, will provide comprehensive care for high-risk pregnancies, critically ill newborns and children requiring specialized treatment, benefiting thousands of families.

Tandon also welcomed the foundation stone for the 150-bed Critical Care Block at PGIMER under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission, saying the facility will enhance emergency preparedness, intensive care services and disaster response capabilities while further strengthening Chandigarh’s healthcare ecosystem.

Speaking about the education sector, Tandon said the new hostel facilities at Punjab Engineering College and Government College, Sector 46, along with the proposed Research Scholars’ Hostel at PEC, will improve residential infrastructure for students and researchers and create a more conducive environment for higher education and innovation.

Referring to the road infrastructure projects, Tandon said the inauguration of the six-lane Greenfield Highway connecting IT City to Kurali and the foundation stone of the PR-7 Spur of the Ambala-Chandigarh Greenfield Highway will significantly improve regional connectivity.

These projects will reduce travel time, ease traffic congestion, facilitate smoother movement between Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir, and provide better access to Chandigarh and its surrounding areas.

Tandon said that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chandigarh continues to receive focused attention through infrastructure projects that not only accelerate economic growth but also improve the daily lives of people.
