New Jodhpur Airport terminal to handle 20 lakh passengers annually
Built at a cost of ₹480 crore, the new terminal spreads across nearly 23,000 square metres and has been designed to handle up to 20 lakh passengers every year.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the terminal combines architectural elements inspired by Rajasthan’s heritage, including arches and jharokhas, with modern passenger facilities. The building also incorporates energy-efficient systems, water conservation measures and other green features aimed at securing a 5-Star GRIHA rating.
The PMO said the new facility is expected to support tourism, trade and employment in the region.
Revised UDAN scheme gets ₹28,840 crore allocation
Alongside the airport inauguration, Prime Minister Modi launched the modified UDAN scheme, which aims to strengthen regional air connectivity across the country.
According to the PMO, the scheme has been allocated approximately ₹28,840 crore over the next 10 years to support the next phase of aviation-led development and expand access to air travel.
Jaipur Metro Phase-2 among key projects
Later in the day, the Prime Minister is scheduled to travel to Balotra, where he will dedicate, inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for projects worth about ₹1.06 lakh crore before addressing a public gathering.
Among the major announcements is the foundation stone for Jaipur Metro Rail Project Phase-2.
The ₹13,037-crore project will develop a 41-km North-South corridor between Prahladpura and Todi Mod. The route is planned to improve connectivity to key locations, including Sitapura Industrial Area, Vishwakarma Industrial Area, Jaipur International Airport, Tonk Road, Sawai Man Singh Hospital, Jaipur Railway Station, Ambabari and Vidyadhar Nagar.
The corridor will comprise 36 metro stations and will be executed by Rajasthan Metro Rail Corporation Limited (RMRCL), a joint venture between the Union government and the Rajasthan government.
PM to inaugurate semiconductor facility in Gujarat
After concluding his Rajasthan engagements, the Prime Minister will travel to Sanand in Gujarat to inaugurate the CG Semi Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) plant.
Developed with an investment of more than ₹7,500 crore under the India Semiconductor Mission, the facility is among the first four semiconductor projects approved under the programme.
According to the PMO, the plant will offer end-to-end semiconductor assembly and testing services, including wafer sorting, assembly, testing, package design, failure analysis, test programme development, product characterisation and logistics support.
