Prominent leaders of North East who are in the electoral fray in the first phase of polls -- from Union Minister Kiren Rijiju to Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi -- exercised their franchise early in the morning on Friday.
Voters were seen queueing up in front of their booths from 6 am onwards whereas the polling started at 7am.
He also urged the people to come out and exercise their franchise in large numbers.
The polling began in 24,370 polling stations at 7 am and will last till 6 pm.
Disaster Management Authority official Surendra Singh Rawat said: "The trek route to the temple has been blocked for traffic due to rain and heavy snowfall near Bhairav glacier."
