The Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs on Saturday said that the monsoon session of the Parliament will begin from 17 July and will get over on 11 August.

The CCPA meeting, chaired by Home Minister Rajnath Singh, was held on Friday evening after NDA presidential nominee Ram Nath Kovind filed his nomination papers.

According to earlier reports, the monsoon session was likely to begin on 12 July and conclude on 11 August.

The month-long monsoon session of Parliament will feature the election of a successor to President Pranab Mukherjee.

Demands for farm loan waivers across states and the contentious ban on cattle slaughter at animal markets could be among the issues for the opposition parties to raise in the House.

It will also be the first Parliament session after the scheduled roll-out of the goods and services tax (GST) on 1 July. The impact of GST is likely to be discussed in both the Houses.
