Chouhan said historically Jagdishpur was settled and ruled by Devda Rajputs but Dost Mohammad Khan conquered it and named it Islamnagar. The CM claimed that Dost Mohammad Khan had treacherously murdered the ruler of the place Narsingh Devda after inviting the latter for dinner.

Chouhan expressed happiness that Jagdishpur has got back its real identity 75 years after independence. It has historical monuments like the Gond Mahal, Rani Mahal and Chaman Mahal.
