Eleven passengers were killed and five others injured on Saturday when the taxi in which they were travelling rolled down into a deep gorge in the Ramban area on the Jammu-Srinagar Highway.

The mishap occurred at Khunda Nallah in Chanderkote area of Ramban district in Jammu.

Reports said that the vehicle skidded off the road in the morning and rolled into a deep gorge at Kunda Nallah in Chanderkote.

Police confirmed the death of 11 persons and injuries to five others.

Rescue operation was launched and all the injured have been evacuated to district hospital Ramban for treatment.

Governor Satya Pal Malik has expressed sorrow and has ordered the authorities to provide proper medical care to the injured.
