The Indian Army has killed 20 Pakistani soldiers in retaliatory action following ceasefire violations by the neighbour in the last 45 days.

The information of the casualties inflicted on the Pakistani forces came at a time when constant firing from across the border has been claiming lives.

According to reports, Indian Army has lost 10 soldiers in the corresponding period since 1 January.

The Indian armed forces have reportedly destroyed many Pakistani army posts in the past few months using anti-tank guided missiles and heavy mortars.

Indian Army lost 28 soldiers along the LoC in 2017. Around 138 Pak Army soldiers were killed in retaliation the same year.

Citing sources in the Army, India Today reports that around 400 terrorists are ready to enter India from Pakistani launch pads along the LoC.

The Pakistani Army chief, General Qamar Jawed Bajwa has reportedly visited Pakistani border areas along LoC twice since January indicating the increased desperation of Pak Army in creating trouble in Kashmir.

There have been around five ceasefire violations in last week alone, including on the day when terrorists from Jaish-e-Mohammed attacked the Sunjuwan Military Station in Jammu.

A woman, too, had been killed when Pakistan fired mortar shells on Krishna Ghati sector in Poonch district in J-K on 8 February, taking the death toll to 19 since 1 January.

Mounting casualties along the border, including those of civilians, due to heavy shelling and firing from the Pakistani side has been a cause of concern for India as well as the Mehbooba Mufti-led government in Jammu-Kashmir.

Expressing her grief for the 45-year-old woman who lost her life in Krishna Ghati, Mufti had called for dialogue with Pakistan to find a solution to the relentless violations along the border.

Following the Sunjuwan terror attack, Mufti had emphatically reiterated her call for dialogue.
