Amidst the prevailing challenges faced in Manipur, the Indian Army has continued its dedicated efforts to connect with the Ex-Servicemen (ESM) fraternity.

Multiple ESM Rallies were organised across different districts in Manipur, demonstrating the Army’s commitment to the welfare of its veterans.

The rallies, held in Bishnupur, Senapati, and Churachandpur districts on 26th February, 28th February, and 4th March respectively, drew an overwhelming response from the community despite the security situation. Over 2,000 personnel, including 1,650 veterans, 50 Veer Naris, 180 widows, and 65 dependents, participated in these events, showcasing the strong bond within the ESM fraternity.

Conducted under the aegis of the Red Shield Division of the Spear Corps, the rallies aimed to provide a platform for interaction with the ESM community and address their grievances, especially during these challenging times.

Dedicated assistance booths were set up at each rally site, offering support and guidance on crucial matters such as healthcare, pension documentation, ECHS Polyclinic services, CSD, and Army recruitment.

General Officer Commanding of the Manipur-based Red Shield Division, Maj Gen Sameer Sharan Kartikeya, SM, expressed gratitude to the veterans and their families for their sacrifices and services to the nation. He assured prompt redressal of their complaints and appreciated the support extended by the ESM community towards the Armed Forces during the prevailing security situation in Manipur.

Medical and dental specialists from the Army and District Hospitals also organised medical camps at the rally sites, providing much-needed medical assistance, treatment, and necessary medicines to the attendees.

The Ex-Servicemen Rally exemplifies the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to its veterans, Veer Naris, and war widows, particularly during times of crisis.

It serves as a testament to the spirit of camaraderie and solidarity that defines the ethos of the Indian Armed Forces, according to a Defence ministry statement.
