The Indian High Commission in Islamabad on Tuesday sent another ‘note verbale’ to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan on continuing incidents of harassment and intimidation of officials and staff members of the mission.

According to sources in New Delhi, the vehicles of Deputy High Commissioner, Military Attache, Air Attache and Naval Attache were aggressively tailed on motorbikes in close proximity within a threatening distance on Tuesday when they were coming from residence to Chancery and later when they were returning home.

Staff Members of the High Commission have received unsolicited and objectionable calls from Pakistan registered numbers on their phones 5-6 times since Monday.

The website of the High Commission continued to be intermittently blocked, causing inconvenience and affecting the normal functioning of the mission, sources added.

“Such incidents of harassment, intimidation and threats to the physical security of diplomats and officials are in violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961, and a threat to the security and safety of the personnel of the High Commission of India,’’ sources said.

India has requested Pakistan to immediately investigate all these incidents and direct the relevant authorities to ensure that such incidents do not recur. Results of the investigations should also be shared with the High Commission, sources added.
