After getting recognition as a political party from the Election Commission of India (ECI), the newly formed Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) on Wednesday got its election symbol.

“The election commission has allotted the symbol of ‘Telephone’ to HAM,” confirmed a source from the party.

HAM was formed in May, after the former Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi was expelled from JD-U for anti-party activities in February this year.

Along with Manjhi, 17 more legislators of the ruling JD-U were expelled from the party.

Bihar will go into assembly polls later this year and HAM has joined hands with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to contest the election.
