President visits Advani to confer Bharat Ratna
The President visited the house of Mr Advani, who has not been keeping well, in New Delhi to bestow upon him the nation's highest civilian honour.
President Droupadi Murmu, on Wednesday, said Haryana has set a good example in women empowerment for the entire nation apart from taking best possible care for the girl child.
The President, who is on a two-day tour in Haryana, said women were the embodiment of power and that every family should help women progress on all fronts.
“The way the daughters of Haryana have raised the pride of their families and state on the global stage in the field of sports is one of the best examples of women empowerment,” said the President.
She praised Haryana Governor and the Chief Minister for successfully implementing the Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao campaign in the state and hoped that Haryana would continue to boost the morale of the women by taking such revolutionary steps.
Appreciating Haryana for making Beti Bachao Beti Padhao a success, the President said the state government had done a commendable job in saving the lives of every girl by spreading awareness about female feticide at the grassroot level.
She hoped the Manohar Lal Khattar government would continue such steps to give love and affection to women in the state.
She said the Chief Minister should ensure that whenever the team on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign visits a family then it should also be ensured that such families should meet eminent women sports persons so that they can believe that a girl child is a pride and not burden.
The Chief Minister said dedicated efforts of the State Government was to save a girl child since the mindset of the people has changed in Haryana where the birth of a girl child is celebrated.
Khattar said now all families have a vow to ensure education for the girl child. According to him, the girl child in Haryana were moving forward in every field and that his government was also helping them grow to achieve something big.
