A CPM activist sustained serious injuries when a bomb exploded in his hand at Pinarayi, in Kerala’s Kannur.
The injured has been identified as Vipin Raj, a CPM activist, an accused in several cases, including hurling a bomb at the Congress office. His right palm was scattered into shreds. He was shifted to a private hospital in Kannur. Reports say that the explosion occurred during the making of bombs.

The CPM sources said that the accident occurred while bursting firecrackers. However, the Congress alleged that the explosion occurred during the making of bombs and that the CPM is making bombs widely to be used in the area, including Panur.
The bomb explosion took place at Venduttai near Pinarayi, 5 kilometres away from Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s house.
