Rahul Gandhi has alleged that the education system has been “rigged” under the current dispensation.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today highlighted a decade-long transformation in welfare delivery, asserting that the welfare of the poor and marginalised has remained at the centre of governance over the past 12 years. Highlighting a range of flagship schemes and the growing role of technology in public service delivery, he said the government’s efforts have focused on ensuring that development reaches sections of society that had remained excluded for decades.
In a series of posts, the Prime Minister linked India’s welfare journey to the principle of Antyodaya and said initiatives ranging from financial inclusion to housing, sanitation, healthcare and drinking water access have been designed to provide dignity, security and opportunity to millions of families.

Welfare at the centre
Reflecting on the government’s approach, PM Modi said, “Over the last 12 years, India has witnessed many transformations and at the core of these changes is the welfare of the poor and downtrodden.”
He added that the guiding principle behind these efforts has been ensuring that those left behind for years are brought into the mainstream of development.
“We have always been inspired by Antyodaya and our effort has always been to ensure that the benefits of development reach those who were left behind for decades,” he said.
Flagship schemes highlighted
The Prime Minister pointed to several major welfare programmes that have shaped the government’s social outreach agenda over the years.
- Jan Dhan Yojana: Expanded access to formal banking services and brought millions of previously unbanked citizens into the financial system.
- Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT): Enabled government assistance to reach beneficiaries directly, reducing intermediaries and improving transparency.
- Swachh Bharat Mission: Focused on sanitation infrastructure and behavioural change to improve public health and cleanliness standards.
- PM Awas Yojana: Aimed at providing housing support to economically weaker sections and low-income families.
- Jal Jeevan Mission: Worked towards expanding access to piped drinking water in rural households across the country.
- Ayushman Bharat: Strengthened healthcare access through financial protection and expanded medical coverage for vulnerable families.
According to PM Modi, “From Jan Dhan accounts and Direct Benefit Transfer to Swachh Bharat, PM Awas Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, Ayushman Bharat and more, every initiative has been driven by a simple objective of ensuring people have dignity and opportunity.”
Technology-driven governance
The Prime Minister also underlined the role of digital infrastructure in reshaping welfare delivery. He said technology has helped improve transparency, reduce leakages and ensure that government support reaches beneficiaries without delays. “It is also gladdening that technology has played a vital role in ensuring a better quality of life for the poor. Through Direct Benefit Transfer and digital platforms, support is reaching people directly and transparently,” he stated.
PM Modi further noted that digital governance has strengthened public confidence in welfare systems by improving accountability and efficiency. “This has reduced leakages, improved efficiency and strengthened trust in governance,” he said.
Vision for Viksit Bharat
Concluding his remarks, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the welfare push has evolved beyond a government programme and has become a broader effort aimed at empowering citizens.
“This is how the journey of furthering Garib Kalyan has become a collective movement towards human empowerment and realising our dream of a Viksit Bharat,” he said.
