In another development to the Bihar topper scam case, the Supreme Court on Thursday refused to grant relief to accused Bachha Rai, squashing Patna High Court's order over the issue.
Refusing to grant relief, the apex court bench said that Rai should not be released from jail at this stage.
Last month, Rai was granted conditional bail by the Patna High Court.

Rai, Secretary-cum-Principal of Vishun Rai College in Vaishali district of Bihar, where Arts and Science toppers Ruby Rai and Saurabh Shrestha studied, was arrested in June last year after he surrendered before the police.
The topper scam came to light in May last year when the Arts and Science stream toppers – Rubi Rai and Saurabh Shrestha were unable to reply to basic questions asked by a journalist.
