Bengaluru restaurant blast: The police has released a CCTV footage showing the suspect behind the blast at Rameshwaram Cafe in Karnataka’s Bengaluru. The masked man, also wearing a cap and glasses is seen visiting the restaurant an hour before the blast.

The suspect, aged around 28-30, reportedly ordered Rava Idali from the restaurant and left a bag at around 12 PM. About an hour ago at 12:56, the blast rocked the popular eatery, and left at least nine people injured.

In other CCTV footages, the suspect can be seen entering the restaurant with a bag, in which the authorities believe he carried the explosive.

What we know so far about the Bengaluru restaurant blast?

According to the preliminary investigation, an improvised explosive device (IED) of low intensity contained in a steel tiffin box was used in the blast.

While it is not yet clear what explosive material was used in the blast, some reports suggested the low intensity blast might have used a combination of easily available explosive material.

The nature of the blast is said be similar to the one used by Islamic State terrorists. Similar material was used in the explosive device that exploded in an auto rickshaw in Mangaluru in 2022.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has said that the suspect came in a bus, fixed the timer and exploded the device carried in a bag.

“The deputy CM and home minister visited the spot yesterday. I will also go to the hospital and the spot today. I don’t know if this is the work of an organisation or not. A serious investigation is underway. BJP should not play politics in this matter. Mangalore blast and Bengaluru explosion are not related. The blast is still under investigation. Appropriate action will be taken after the report,” he said.
