Assam Assembly passes UCC Bill, CM Sarma calls it ‘most secular, uniform and progressive law’
With the passage of the proposed legislation, Assam has now emerged as the third state, after Uttarakhand and Gujarat, to pass a Uniform Civil Code Bill.
The Assam CM added that the exercise was meant to demonstrate how easily such entities can be created. “Tech is not just available to Cong, it is available to us too. Say hello to ‘GauravElizabeth786’,” he said.
A fresh political storm has erupted in Assam after Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma hit back at the Congress over allegations involving his wife, claiming his party replicated the opposition’s “toolkit” to create a company in the United States.
The controversy stems from allegations raised by Congress leader Pawan Khera, who cited documents to question whether Sarma’s wife holds multiple active passports, potentially violating Indian law. The claims have triggered a sharp exchange between the two sides.

We have now successfully registered one LLP in Wyoing using similar toolkit that @INCIndia used to create the fake company in my wife’s name.

Taking to X, Sarma said his team had successfully registered a limited liability partnership (LLP) in Wyoming using the same method he alleged was used by Congress to create a “fake” company in his wife’s name.
“This is how Cong made a fake Wyoming LLC for $199… We also made an LLC in Wyoming called GauravElizabeth786,” Sarma wrote.
In another post, he added that the exercise was meant to demonstrate how easily such entities can be created. “Tech is not just available to Cong, it is available to us too. Say hello to ‘GauravElizabeth786’,” he said.

Khera, however, intensified the attack, alleging inconsistencies in documents related to Sarma’s wife and questioning whether she holds passports from multiple countries. He also raised the issue of dual citizenship, which is not permitted under Indian law, and demanded clarity from the Chief Minister.
The remarks added a sharper political edge to the controversy, with personal allegations now dominating the discourse.
Himanta Biswa Sarma should answer the below questions.
1) Does the wife of Himanta Sarma hold a Golden visa for Dubai ?
2) Is the Golden visa on an Indian passport ?
3) Does any family member of Himanta Biswa Sarma own properties in Dubai ?
4) Does any family member of…

Earlier in the day, Sarma invoked the St. Kitts forgery case to caution Congress against any “fabrication.”
“Congress once tried this playbook in the St. Kitts case; those days are over. Fabrication will be met with the full force of law; my legal team is already at work,” he said.
The exchange marks a significant escalation in the ongoing political battle between the BJP and the Congress in Assam, with both sides trading serious allegations. While Sarma has framed his demonstration as proof of how easily digital tools can be misused, the Congress continues to press for answers on the passport issue.
With legal action hinted at and rhetoric intensifying, the controversy shows no signs of cooling down.
