Announcing the projects, UPTourism & Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh said here on Sunday, “Religious and cultural sites in Uttar Pradesh are witnessing an unprecedented rise in visitors. While Ayodhya, Kashi, and Mathura remain prime destinations, the NCR region is fast emerging as a new attraction. With these projects, we will not only enhance facilities for pilgrims but also give fresh momentum to local economies.”
Highlighting the importance of the NCR region, the minister added that its proximity to the national capital makes Gautam Buddh Nagar and Ghaziabad hubs of immense tourism potential. In Gautam Buddh Nagar, development works will be undertaken at the ancient Beri Wala Mandir in Nagli Wazidpur village and Maa Bhudawali Devi Temple in Sirsa Machipur, Jewar, with Rs1 crore allocated to each site. Additionally, Dhammadipa Buddhist Vihar in Akshardham Colony (Noida) and Gurudwara Singh Sabha in Suraj Nagar, Greater Noida have each been sanctioned Rs 50 lakh for beautification and visitor amenities.
In Ghaziabad district, a major facelift has been planned for Jai Bhim Park, Shri Hanuman Mandir in Muradnagar, the ancient Shiv Mandir in Sihani, Sahibabad, and Chukay Wali Mata Mandir in Modinagar, with Rs 1 crore sanctioned for each site.
The projects will include beautification, improved sanitation, drinking water facilities, and basic infrastructure to make visits smoother and more enjoyable for devotees and tourists. According to the minister, the initiative will also generate new livelihood opportunities for locals, boost small businesses, and strengthen the economy.
“Our government is committed to preserving Uttar Pradesh’s religious and cultural heritage while equipping it with modern amenities. These projects in NCR will not only give ancient temples and shrines a new life but also provide jobs and attract visitors from across the country,” Jaiveer Singh said.
Principal Secretary, Tourism & Culture, Mukesh Kumar Meshram, added that the projects will enhance the identity of NCR as a spiritual-tourism hub. “By integrating traditional heritage with world-class facilities, Uttar Pradesh is ensuring that devotees and tourists alike enjoy both authenticity and comfort,” he said.
