Congress committing dacoity on rights of OBCs, SCs, STs: PM
“Wherever it (Congress) can do it, it will try to loot the claims of the SCs, STs and OBCs and give them to others,” said Modi.
BJP National General Secretary and West Bengal in-charge Kailash Vijayvargiya, on Tuesday, said that his party is aiming to win more than a two-third majority in the state assembly elections due in 2021. He said that the BJP is even prepared for early polls in West Bengal.
Currently, it has only three MLAs in the 294-member Assembly.
Kailash Vijayvargiya’s remarks hold great significance especially after the stellar performance of the saffron party in West Bengal in the recently concluded general elections in which the BJP won 18 out of 42 seats, compared to two seats in 2014 elections. The party’s vote share also went up to 40.25 per cent in 2019 from 16.8 per cent in 2014.

Attributing the party’s success in Lok Sabha polls to BJP’s organisational strength, Vijayvargiya told PTI that he, along with other leaders, has been working for the last four years on the ground to expand the party’s footprint across the state.
“We were confident of party’s splendid performance in the Lok Sabha polls due to the BJP’s expansion in the state, rise in its organisational strength and faith in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he said.
“The BJP will definitely form government in the state in 2021 polls and is aiming for 221 seats in the 294-member West Bengal assembly. Youth and development-oriented people have moved away from both Mamata and the Left,” said Vijayvargiya.
Earlier in the day, Vijayvargiya had announced that three MLAs and 50-60 Councillors of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) have joined the BJP, adding that “such joinings will continue in future also”.
Subhrangshu Roy, the TMC MLA from Bijpur in North 24-Parganas district and the son of senior BJP leader Mukul Roy, joined the saffron party.
Arjun Singh, BJP’s newly-elected MP from Barrackpore, who left the TMC after being denied ticket from the Barrackpore constituency, has seemingly played a key role in engineering the defections.
Kailash Vijayvargiya was appointed the BJP West Bengal leader by part national president Amit Shah.
