Television host and actress Sunny Leone has been accused of not returning the signing amount she had taken for doing a film in 2007. Bharat Patel, distributor and producer of the 2007 film, Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi, has said Sunny Leone had taken Rs 5 lakh as the signing amount.
Paresh Rawal and Rishi Kapoor acted in the lead roles in the film that initially planned to have a dance number featuring Sunny. However, the idea of dance number was scrapped later.
The producer has said the actress should have returned the signing amount of Rs 5 lakh that she had taken to do the number.
Speaking to Times Now, Patel said, “According to the deal, Sunny was supposed to be paid a total of Rs 40 lakh for the song – Rs 5 lakh as signing amount, Rs 5 lakh after the look test, Rs 10 lakh during the rehearsals and the remaining Rs 10 lakh during the promotions. Sunny was paid Rs 5 lakh as the signing amount but after that when she was called to discuss the dates with the other actors and the other details that needed to be finalised before the shoot, she did not respond to the production team’s calls and messages.”
According to Patel, they had even sent a legal notice to Sunny in 2017 but she did not give any response.
A source close to the actor, however, rubbishing the allegation, saying: “Leone had allotted dates for the song but there was a lot of back and forth on the dates and the makers kept changing the shoot dates. As a result, Sunny allotted her free dates to other projects. She’s a professional. How would she keep dealing with so much back and forth?”
On the professional front, Sunny Leone is currently hosting MTV’s Splitsvilla 11 and was last seen in her own biopic titled Karenjit Kaur- The Untold Story of Sunny Leone. She is all set to debut in Tamil industry with Veeramadevi.
The actor recently earned 18 million followers on photo-sharing platform Instagram. To celebrate the big number, she broke into a happy dance with husband Daniel Weber and posted a video of it on the platform.
