Actor Sunny Leone has addressed the chatter around the unusually silent atmosphere on the sets of Kennedy, directed by Anurag Kashyap.

In an exclusive chat with IANS, Sunny clarified that the calm environment during filming had nothing to do with tension or discomfort. Instead, she said, it simply reflected how professionally the unit functioned.

‘People were just doing their work’

Responding to reports of pin-drop silence on set, Sunny explained that everyone was deeply focused on the job at hand.

“The set was so silent because it was a professional set and people were not whispering. They were doing their work, that’s why they were quiet,” she said.

She stressed that the stillness actually worked in the film’s favour. According to her, the focused energy helped the actors stay fully immersed in their scenes.

Helped everyone stay focused

Sunny added that the environment pushed the team to stay locked into their performances.

“Everybody got into their work and was so deeply engrossed. We also got into our work with full passion and dedication that there was hardly any time to talk. But I don’t think that was a bad thing. I think it actually helped. It helped you focus,” she explained.

Calling it a positive experience, the actress noted that the quiet mood improved concentration rather than creating pressure.

Rahul Bhatt backs the observation

Co-actor Rahul Bhat echoed similar thoughts. He pointed out that such silence is common on the sets of filmmakers known for intense storytelling.

“Every serious director’s set is very quiet. There is not much noise. Any serious director’s set is very quiet.”

Initial disbelief about the film

Sunny also recalled that she initially struggled to believe she had actually landed the project. She admitted that even after trials and workshops, she wasn’t completely sure she would remain part of the film.

“My first reaction was disbelief that I had been offered the role. I didn’t 1,000% believe I was part of the film until I actually got on set. Even though I did the trials and the workshops, and everything happened, we all know entertainment is very volatile and things can change at the drop of a dime.”

The actress shared that she finally relaxed only after the first shot was completed and the team moved ahead smoothly.

“I was so happy when the first shot was taken and we moved on to the next. That’s when I felt, ‘Alright, now they won’t replace me, I think I did a good job.”
