Actress Trisha Krishnan is not staying quiet this time! The actress has taken a firm stand against recent remarks made by Tamil Nadu BJP chief Nainar Nagendran. The comments, made in the context of criticising actor-turned-politician Vijay, have landed Trisha in an unwanted controversy and she isn’t having it.

Trisha’s response came through a statement issued by her lawyer, Advocate Nithyaesh Natraj, which she later shared on Instagram and X. The statement described the remarks as “distasteful” and stressed that Trisha was being unfairly dragged into political debates.

“I’m not political”, Trisha’s lawyer speaks

Without naming anyone directly, Trisha’s legal team clarified her position. The statement noted that Trisha never expected “distasteful and inappropriate” comments from someone holding a high political office. It added she has no affiliation with any political party and has always maintained neutral stance in politics. In addition, it also added Trisha wants to be recognised only for her craft, not her supposed political leanings.

The lawyer’s statement further emphasised that “personal lives should never be made the subject of public commentary or discourse” and called for responsibility and restraint from public figures.

Trisha’s team requested that her name “not be drawn into matters that do not concern her.”

How it all began: The Nagendran comment

The controversy started when Nagendran made a personal reference to Trisha while criticising Vijay. The latter recently launched his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

Vijay and Trisha have shared the screen in several films which makes the comment all the more personal and sensitive.

The BJP leader’s remarks triggered strong reactions across the political spectrum. Opposition leaders condemned the statement as “uncivilised” and inappropriate calling it a personal attack not just on Trisha but also on the TVK chief.
