Even as people in India and world over are showering love on the newest power couple of the entertainment industry, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, a news article has called their’s a “fraudulent relationship”, and is being rightly called out. The write-up by Mariah Smith, published on New York Mag’s TheCut, even calls the Quantico star a “modern-day scam artist” and “global scam artist”.
“Priyanka: She is a modern-day scam artist, in my opinion. That’s right: Nicholas Jonas married into a fraudulent relationship against his will this past Saturday, December the 1st, and I’ll tell you why I think so…,” it read.
The ‘in-depth analysis’ of the love life of Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra and American singer Nick Jonas minced no words to say the actress, who is “a little indulgent”, is cashing on the their “love”.
Speaking of the wedding pictures of the couple, which was solely released by the People magazine, the journalist said, “Priyanka’s commitment to monetizing this life milestone should have been a huge red flag for Nick, but poor thing seems to be blinded by love.”
The article does on to say the former Miss World goes overboard with everything in life like it is “more important than oxygen.” Comparing Nick Jonas’ personality to Priyanka’s, it says he “doesn’t suffer from the same affliction as his wife (being and thriving on being Extra As All F**k).”
Lastly, speculating about the 26-year-old singer’s expectations from their relationship, the article said, “All Nick wanted was a possible fling with Hollywood’s latest It Woman, but instead he wound up staring straight at a life sentence with a global scam artist.”
The article has faced a huge flak on social media for demeaning the Indian actress. A lot of people have castigated the journalist and the publication, calling the write-up “misogynistic”, “pathetic”, “sexist”, “racist”, “mean” and “regressive” among other adjectives.
Nick Jonas’s brother Joe Jonas and would-be sister-in-law, Sophie Turner, too slammed the magazine. Taking to Twitter, the Game of Thrones star posted: “This is wildly inappropriate and totally disgusting. Very disappointed that The Cut would give anyone a platform to spew such bullshit.”
