Ex-Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer Anurag Kumar was on Friday appointed as the Commissioner of Delhi Police, replacing Satish Golcha, who was removed from the post and, in an unprecedented move, directed to report to the Lieutenant Governor's office for his next posting.
Anurag Kumar returns to the AGMUT cadre after serving in the Intelligence Bureau and brings nearly 32 years of policing, intelligence and internal security experience to the country's most sensitive police force.
The proposal also includes completing the unfinished camp office, where around Rs 25 crore has already been spent. The facility would host government meetings before being opened for private events when available.
Two individuals were injured in the incident and were sent to the hospital by ambulance for treatment.
Police recovered CCTV footage that allegedly captured the couple arguing after stopping their scooter moments before the woman was shot. The accused constable had been absconding since the incident.
The prosecution plans to seek the maximum punishment, Delhi Police says its investigation stood judicial scrutiny, and AAP maintains Tahir Hussain has had no association with the party since his suspension in February 2020.
The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital by passers-by in an autorickshaw after the shooting, while investigators have begun examining CCTV footage to trace the absconding accused.
According to officials, emergency rescue teams, including four fire tenders and police personnel, were rushed to spot following the incident.
The NIA said absconding accused Muzafar Ahmad, a paediatrician (MBBS, MD), is the elder brother of co-accused Adeel Ahmed Rather and a founding member of “AGuH Interim”, an offshoot of the Al-Qaeda.
During interrogation, the accused juveniles allegedly disclosed that around 40 to 45 days ago, Paras had taken Rs 150 from one of them and refused to return it.
