Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA G Lasya Nanditha died in a road accident on the Patancheru outer Ring Road in Telangana's Sangerddy district on the outskirts of Hyderabad on Friday early morning.
A 43-year-old labourer was tied to a tree and beaten to death with sticks by irate villagers for allegedly raping a minor girl in Nizamabad district of Telangana.
As per media reports, accused Medarai Sayanna had entered the girl’s house in Donkeshwar village on Sunday evening when she was alone. He allegedly raped her and fled.
After the girl narrated the incident to her mother, the latter along with family members and local villagers caught hold of Sayanna and together him up with sticks, as per a news report in The Indian Express. The assault severely injured Sayanna.
The villagers then took him to a nearby hospital where he died later in the night, said police.
According to the police, no one from the village informed the police about the alleged assault on the minor until late in the evening.
The police have launched an investigation and are gathering information concerning the assault on Sayanna. The police are also looking for videos of the assault.
“There is no complaint from the side of the deceased against anyone so we could not make any arrests so far,’’ Assistant Commissioner of Police, Armoor, Shiva Kumar said.
However, two cases were registered under relevant sections of the IPC in connection with the sexual assault on the minor girl and the killing of the man.
