Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta on Saturday said that local infrastructure must deliver visible and tangible change on the ground, emphasising that roads, water supply, and sanitation are central to dignified urban living and must be strengthened with clarity and urgency.

Gupta made the remarks while inaugurating a series of civic infrastructure projects in the Rohini Assembly constituency, with an estimated outlay of ₹50 lakh. The works are being undertaken across Sectors 7 and 8, including Naharpur village, with a focused effort to strengthen essential neighbourhood services.

The projects include the construction of lanes, replacement of water pipelines, and upgradation of sewer and drainage systems, addressing long-pending civic requirements in residential areas.

In Sector 8, the works include the construction of new lanes across multiple pockets to improve internal connectivity.

Foundation stones were also laid for the reconstruction of drains in Pocket B4 of Sector 8, redevelopment of RMC lanes in Pocket A1, and replacement of water pipelines in drains in Pocket A16.

Additionally, in Naharpur village, sewer line renovation works at two locations were inaugurated to improve sanitation and drainage conditions. In Sector 7, the programme also included the replacement of water pipelines in drains in Pockets D12 and G22.

Gupta observed that sustained attention to neighbourhood-level infrastructure is essential to ensure that development remains meaningful and inclusive.

He noted that targeted improvements in roads, water systems, and sanitation directly impact everyday life and must be implemented with efficiency and accountability.
