EC defends integrity of EVMs in SC, asserts it can’t be manipulated
The Election Commission of India (ECI) defended the integrity of the electronic voting system, asserting that it was not prone to any external interference or manipulations.
As per the directions of the Election Commission, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Haryana has issued schedule for the special summary revision of photo electoral rolls with 1 January, 2019 as qualifying date.
While stating this on Monday, CEO, Haryana, Ankur Gupta said that all eligible persons who would be completing 18 years of age as on 1 January, 2019, could get their names added to the photo voter list. The draft electoral rolls has been published on 1 September, 2018.
If there is any correction to be made in the published draft electoral rolls, the eligible voters can file their objections on prescribed form with nearest Booth Level Officer (BLO), Election Registration Officer (ERO) or District Electoral Officer (DEO) up to 31 October, 2018.

The special campaign dates at all the booths would be 22 and 23 September, and 13 and 14 October, 2018. The disposal of claims and objections would be completed before 30 November and the updating of the database and printing of supplementary list would be done before 3 January, 2019. The final publication of electoral rolls would be done on 4 January, 2019, he added.
Gupta said that 19,424 polling centres have been set up in the state where different officers and officials have been deputed as BLOs. The BLOs would check and verify the residence proof attached along with the forms (6, 6A, 7, 8 or 8A) by the applicants and send the same to ERO or AERO. On the basis of this, the ERO would take final decision of adding name to voter list, removing name from list or correction.
He said that the complete information of all BLOs along with their mobile numbers are available on the website www.ceoharyana.nic.in. All DEOs have been directed to provide area wise data of BLOs to all banks and post offices for pasting the same in ATM rooms and post offices for knowledge of public.
