As part of the Delhi government’s campaign against illegal constructions, encroachments, and violations of building safety norms, the Revenue Department inspected 130 sites across the national capital on Sunday, issued notices, and took required actions, including sealing, at several locations.

The tragedy unfolded when one worker fell into the tank during the cleaning process. As others rushed in to help him, they too collapsed inside the enclosed space, resulting in the deaths of all four men.
After hours-long wait the police summoned a locksmith to break open the gates and entered the councillor's premises. He was subsequently dragged out.
