Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh on Wednesday said that the state government was committed to solving the problems being faced by people living in areas near the International Border (IB).
The deputy chief minister said this in a meeting convened here to discuss issues confronting people living along the IB in Jammu division.

“People living along the IB have been rendering sacrifices for the cause of the nation and it is imperative that we should be aware of the problems being faced by them and ensure timely redressal,” Singh said.

The issue of reservations to people living along the IB on the lines of that being provided to those living along the Line of Control would be taken up with the officials concerned for early redressal, he said.
It was also decided that the demand of providing compensation to people whose properties were acquired for defence purposes would be taken after proper quantification of the losses, an official spokesman said.
