Uttarakhand Government to hold panchayats to encourage reverse migration
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed officials to intensify efforts to curb large-scale migration from the hills, calling it one of the state’s major challenges.
Home Secretary Shailesh Bagoli on Friday ordered district magistrates and Superintendents of Police across the state to increase vigilance in their respective areas with special focus on international borders.

The Uttarakhand government has decided to tighten security in its international border areas as it directed respective district magistrates be more vigilant and increase surveillance in their areas.
Home Secretary Shailesh Bagoli on Friday ordered district magistrates and Superintendents of Police across the state to increase vigilance in their respective areas with special focus on international borders.

Reviewing security in international border hill areas and the state in general Bagoli asked the officials to increase surveillance in view of current security threats after Delhi car blast on November 10. “District administration and police must be alerts and more vigilant in view of incidents in the country. Intensive checking must be held regularly and special caution be exercised in international border areas of the state” said Bagoli speaking to the officials at a review meeting of security in state in Dehradun.

“Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras must be installed in border areas and other sensitive locations as this will make help in effective tracking and monitoring of suspicious vehicles. Checking drives by police must be intensified at all major tourist destinations with special attention towards security arrangements at religious places” said Bagoli.
State home secretary directed that adequate CCTV camera systems and their real-time monitoring be ensured in cities and sensitive installations in the state. “Security of the people and tourists is government’s top priority. District Magistrates and police chiefs must inform police headquarters and the state government immediately if there is requirement for additional manpower, technology or other resources to strengthen the security system in their areas. All government offices CCTV systems in place” said Bagoli speaking to the officials.
