Imran Hussain inaugurates office complex of L&M Dept

Delhi Food and Civil Supplies Minister Imran Hussain inaugurated the state-of-the-art office complex of Legal Metrology (L&M) Department at Vishwas Nagar here on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said, “The building will now work as the headquarter of the Legal Metrology Department.”

He informed the new office complex will also have two zonal offices of the Legal Metrology department, state of art labs duly equipped with scientific labs and instruments including working standard laboratories and secondary laboratory.

Hussain expressed confidence that the commencement of the functioning of the new Legal Metrology office at Vishwas Nagar will bring huge relief to the Delhiites especially those living in East and North East Delhi as the applicants will save a lot of time and effort in getting the necessary verification, stamping and calibration of devices done for calibration of the weights and measuring instruments/devices.

“Now adequate office space is available in this new state-of-the-art building of the Metrology Department. The office building is equipped with better facilities so that the work of verification of measuring and weighing instruments of applicants will be done more conveniently,” the minister said.

He further said the establishment and operationalization of the new building will also ensure that the applicants do not have to travel long distances for necessary stamping, verification and calibration of devices.

Hussain also said that the Weights and Measures Department is also moving forward to digitize the process of verification of all types of measuring instruments through an online system, which will soon be made available to the applicants.

Through this Online process, thousands of traders and shopkeepers will benefit by getting the facility to deposit requisite fees and download certificates related to the verification of measuring instruments, he added.
