Trinamul Congress will take over Malda in the coming panchayat election if its leaders and activists keep in mind two things, one is development and the other is unity, says party observer and the state minister for transport, Subhendu Adhikary in his block level meeting for the rural polls in Gazole on Wednesday.

The factional clash in Malda has sent back TMC empty handed so far in the previous polls and Mr Adhikary on Wednesday gave the clarion call for an unity among the leaders and the development done so far by chief minister Mamata Banerjee in the district though she was not gifted with a single seat in the last assembly elections here.

As a matter of fact, Ms Banerjee, herself had expressed dissatisfaction over not being able to have good wishes of the people here in spite of her repeated efforts during her visits to Malda.

Mr Adhiikary also slammed the Union Ministry led by Narendra Modi over several issues including GST, railway fare, name of projects and many more.

The switching of Congress leaders to the ruling party like Murshidabad would only be a matter of time here, according to Mr Adhikary who expressed his confidence to win Malda this time.

“The base of Congress in Murshidabad is in a swinging motion now and the wickets here will also be down as many of them have been keeping in regular touch with us. CPI-M does not exist now and TMC will be the numero uno here as the other name for development is Mamata Banerjee,” he said in Gazole on Wednesday.

Referring to the national politics, Mr Adhikary said that senior politician and lawyer Ram Jethmalani wanted Ms Banerjee to steer the nation.

It is the duty of all to strengthen her hands with support. He then went on to slam the Modi government by saying, “Thirteen percent GST is for food and only four for the diamonds- this is the ‘achhe din’ of the prime minister. When TMC is winning elections by record votes the Sadhubaba in Uttar Pradesh is losing his own seat. The Union Ministry desire to name the projects under their belt by paying only 25% of the cost, here we can say we do not need your money as we can do it on our own.”

According to political observers here, Mr Adhikary after seeing factional feuds among the leaders of the party still in very much force tried to bind them in the name of unity from the very beginning of the rural poll march.
