A 19-year-old boy who was pursuing BA (second year) from Delhi University's Satyavati College was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his rented house at Santnagar, Burari on Tuesday night. The student has been identified as Hizam Bharat Singh from Manipur.

According to police, Bharat's roommate, Mohan, informed the police, "We are knocking at the door but no response. We doubt, Bharat, our roommate, has committed suicide."

Police reached the spot and broke opened the door. "Bharat was already dead. His face had turned red. We brought him down and his body was taken to hospital where he was declared brought dead. The body was taken to the Sabji Mandi mortuary. As soon as Bharat's parent arrive, the body will be handed over to them," said the police.

A source claimed that Bharat was under pressure for the last few months. He was having a tough time in class and most of his friends used to make fun of him. For few days he stopped interacting with friends and mostly used to stay alone."

Gautam, another roommate, told police that he was not interacting with them for few days. On Tuesday he and one common friend Rohan asked Bharat to accompany them but he preferred to stay at home. When they returned at 9 p.m. the door was locked from inside.  They also called him on phone but there was no response. They were shocked when they saw Bharat hanging from the fan.

Accordingly, a case has been registered at Burari police station and investigation is on. "No suicide note has been found but we are analysing his phone records. All his texts, phone calls, social media activities will be checked to get any lead in the matter," said the police.
