As reported earlier, a 20-year-old student was attacked with acid in Bharat Nagar area of North-West Delhi on Sunday. The victim, a second-year student, was on her way to an extra class at Lakshmi Bai College in Ashok Vihar when the incident occurred.

According to the police, the assailants have been identified as Jitender, a resident of Mukundpur, and his associates Ishan and Arman.

According to Bhisham Singh, DCP North West, the victim stated the accused arrived on a motorcycle.

“Ishan allegedly handed over a bottle to Arman, who then threw the acid on her. The victim tried to protect her face but sustained injuries on both her hands,” the DCP said.

The victim was initially admitted to Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital and later referred to Dr RML Hospital for further treatment of her burn injuries.

The police revealed that the victim knew the prime accused, Jitender, who had allegedly been stalking her. A heated argument had taken place between them approximately a month prior to the attack.

Following the incident, a Crime Team and an FSL Team inspected the scene. A case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered.

An investigation is underway to apprehend the accused persons who fled the spot.
