The student of Calcutta University (CU), Gaurab Dutta Mustafi, who was show caused for heckling a professor on Wednesday urged the university to “forgive the entire allegation” for the sake of his “academic career” and “family peace”.

The head of the department of the chemical engineering department, Bhaskar Das, was reportedly “slapped”, “threatened” and “abused” last month by Mustafi belonging to Trinamul Chattra Parisad (TMCP) and a student of Spanish certificate course from the university.

The professor had lodged a complaint with the university and nearby police station against Mustafi. Later, state education minister Partha Chatterjee had to intervene.
